The video itself is a lengthy 50 minutes and 22 seconds(!) of primarily audio, along wtih an entertaining opening slideshow and narration and video credits of all the participants at the closing. To represent each brewer when speaking a different vintage photo is shown. All photos are hanging on the wall of the Horse Brass pub (where it was recorded) and used to symbolize the Brewmasters. It is worth a listen to hear these guys bullshitting about the business of craft beer and opening their own respective breweries, even if you can only listen to the audio it alone is compelling.Backstory:
Earlier this year news The New School broke the news that Ben Love, Head Brewer at Hopworks Urban Brewery, was leaving to open Gigantic Brewing with ex-Rock Bottom Brewmaster Van Havig. Around the same time Chad Kennedy, Brewmaster at Laurelwood, announced his departure to open Worthy Brewing in Bend. Ben, having expressed interest in The New School's brewer interviewing brewer series we did in August, thought he could do a group interview with all 3 Brewmasters talking about their new businesses for The New School. Instead of a typical interview format, Mr. Love decided to simply rest a camera on the table to record the audio of their talk to be transcribed later. Of course, the conversation was free flowing and all over the map, so he decided to make it into a video instead. Rather than just cut out the video and make it an audio track, Ben decided to design awesome intros and even bring in narration for what will be the first of a new video series he is producing for Gigantic Brewing.
