Astoria’s wet and stormy climate has proven to be a popular setting to celebrate the darkest of beers
during Stout Month, which is celebrated by the Fort George Brewery each February. During this month-long event, the brewery’s public house has been busier than some coastal summer months, and this year Fort George will be offering even more space and reasons to come. For starters, Fort George’s two breweries will be releasing at least eight of their own stouts, and the pub and taproom will also showcase some regional breweries’ most limited specialty brews.

The Brewvana/New School itinerary:

Leave Portland at 12pm Saturday
Stop 1 ROGUE Public House Astoria. Beer sampling and appetizers.
Stop 2 Astoria Brewing. Beer and tour with John Dalgren, head brewer.
Stop 3 Fort George Brewery. Dinner and stout sampler tray.
Shuttle to the Holiday Inn Express & Suites

Leave Astoria at 11am
Stop 4 Bill’s Tavern and Brewhouse.
Return to Portland around 2:30pm.

The beer lineup for Stout Month from the Fort George Brewery includes Cavatica Stout, Spank Stout,
Coffee Girl Stout, Mexican Chocolate Stout, Polish Black Walnuts Stout, Bourbon Barrel Cavatica Stout, Kentucky Girl Stout, and more, along with rotating taps from regional breweries. A “blind taster tray” will be available with eight stouts in a specific order and accompanied by a stout map with a legend.
