10 Barrel Brewing Comes out Swinging at APEX
Thank god for Portland Beer Week or I would be too busy to have anything to post. We also might not have so many killer events coming up, such as this amazing "10 Barrel Brewing Co. Comes out Swinging at Apex" event on Saturday. However badass it will be, though, I still can't attend, as I will likely be unable to leave the equally killer Portland Fruit Beer Festival. But, if you are not inclined towards fruit beers, just take a look at this insane beer list below and keep in mind the All-Star Brewers lineup (Jimmy Seifrit, Tonya Cornett, Shawn Kelso, Bobby Jackson, and Ben Shirley) will all be at Apex this Saturday, chilling from 4-8pm.
Apocalypse IPA IBU 70 ABV 6.8%
We took the chance to redesign our flagship beer with the
opening of our new brewing facility. This IPA is all about the
hops with no distractions. We paired down the malt bill,
removing the Biscuit and adding Carapils to enhance the
head with nominal flavor impact. The base hops of Bravo,
Amarillo, Cascade, Northern Brewer, and Centennial are the
same but the dry hop of Zeus, Northern Brewer, Cascade,
and Centennial have be increased by a 100%. The depth of
the hop flavor is built on the use of leaf and pellet hops

India Session Ale IBU 51 ABV 5.5%
A brand new style from the twisted minds of 10 Barrel's brew
crew. Pale yellow in color. Big citrusy aroma full of grapefruit
and tangerine thanks to the massive dry hop! Clean, crisp
maltiness with a hint of sweetness. Light to medium bodied.
Pleasant, balanced bitterness as a result of the loaded latekettle
hop addition. This Summer Ale with a major hop
charge and malty twist finishes fruity and slightly dry.

Sinistor Black Ale IBU 28 ABV 5.4%
We craft our S1NIST0R Black Ale using special German
dehusked black malt that is free of astringency, giving the
beer a rich black color without the traditional dark beer
characteristics. You will notice subtle hints of chocolate with
an easy drinking balance on the back end. In the glass the
dark color may look intimidating to some, but don't let this
beer fool you. Our unique combination of malts creates a
very light body and smooth finish.

Oregon Brown Ale IBU 68 ABV 7.1%
No, not an India Brown Ale, not an American Brown Ale, an
Oregon Brown Ale with all the creativity and style you ‘d
expect from our state. A strong malt backbone sandwiched
between loads of Simcoe hops may seem like a daunting
idea, but dry hopping this with copious amounts of Citra’s
really brings it home. If Hops aren’t your deal you probably
should stay away from this Big Guy!

Raspberries Gone Wild IBU 4 ABV 5.0%
This Sour will slap you in the face with raspberry tartness
then slaps you again with an undeniable sourness. It ends
refreshing and dry daring you to take another drink.
Oats on Nitro IBU 37 AVB 5.0%
Oatmeal Stout on Nitro is nothing short of decadent. The
nose is full of toasted oats and roast grains. The flavor
mimics dark chocolate covered espresso beans. The ending
is slightly dry with toasty oat sweetness in the background.
Pray For Brandy Strong Ale IBU 75 ABV 8.0%
We took our Pray for Snow Winter Warmer and made it
better; bigger and bolder. We used eight different specialty
malts to deliver a complex and thought provoking malt
blanket. To complement this we used a combination of
herbal, spicy, and citrus hops to help keep this beer in
balance. All this was wrapped together with four months of
aging time in Brandy barrels adding nuances of oak, vanilla,
and candied fruit
One Hop Wonder Strong Pale IBU 60 ABV 5.9%
This single hop beer was designed by Ben Shirley to showoff
the Australian Galaxy hop. It was developed with the help of
Melanoiden, Honey, and Crystal malts. This is a balanced
beer with strong developed hop nose and flavor.
Okie Dokie Smokie IBU 20 ABV 5.2%
What's a brown porter? It falls smack in the middle of a
brown ale and a robust porter. It has a touch more
toastiness, roastiness and caramel sweetness than a brown
ale but not as roasty as a robust porter. We added a touch
of smoked malt, which blends perfectly with the gentle
chocolate background.
Rude Boy Rye IBU 40 ABV 4.9%
A unique American rye ale style designed by Bobby Jackson
with a deep saturated orange color. Hints of toffee and malt
sweetness back up the robust and spicy flavors of this beer
brewed with 50% rye malt. Pilsner malt helps lend to the
crisp finish and gentle bitterness attained from magnum,
super galena, and calypso hops. A refreshingly clean,
sessionable beer right in time for spring!
Red Headed Step Child IBU 26 ABV 5.7%
Strawberry Belgian Blonde immediately assails the nose with
fresh strawberries underscored by light banana esters. The
inherent tartness of the beer accentuates the strawberry
flavor before Belgian spices signal the end is
near. Strawberry Blonde finishes dry, crisp and bubbly.
Cynical CDA IBU 85 ABV 8%
Dark and bitter like the name implies. Hoppy and almost
black in color. Ample amounts of Magnum, Chinook, and
Cascade hops were stuffed into this beer during every step
of the brewing process. By far, the hoppiest beer we have
ever produced at 10 barrel.
“He Done Did It” ---PB&J IBU Who Cares ABV 5.
This beer was created when a bunch of us were sitting
around late night drinking and Jimmy claimed he could brew
anything. Someone bet him he couldn’t brew a beer that
tasted like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. As you enjoiy
this beer, remember outside of the peanut butter and grape
jelly you will get some wheat toast! Cheers
“Mighty” #45 – Bourbon Maple IBU 85 ABV 8%
We started with our Cascadian Dark Ale as our base beer,
aged the beer in Kentucky Bourbon Barrels for 3 months and
injected Vermont maple syrup into the beer as a finishing
touch.
Red Vine Sinistor IBU 28 ABV 5.4%
I’m not sure we need a description for this… but here it is…
We infused old fashion red licorice with our Sinistor Black
Ale. This was first done as a joke but to our surprise these
flavors compliment each other perfectly. What goes better
than candy and beer!

This is so not fair… there's no way I'm going to be sober enough to make it over to Apex from PFBF; can't we move this to a different day? :-(
