A benefit for the Loaves & Fishes Centers (the Meals on Wheels People),
the Street Fare will feature Portland’s best food carts, which will pair
their specialty dishes with Deschutes ales for an evening that brings
Oregon summertime to life. With a rocking backdrop of some of the best
live music around, this evening will be unmistakably memorable.
Portland food cart vendors have received national and international attention as some of the best in the world. Featured vendors for the Deschutes Brewery Street Fare include:
· Oregon Ice Works
· PDX671
· Prickly Ash
· BAO PDX
· Gonzo
· The Pie Spot
· Touch Down’s BBQ
Previous editions of the Street Fare have been among my favorite beer events of the year. Though the event can get quite crowded, the beer and food pairings are great and the location is a treat. This year I am a little less excited about the music lineup, perhaps it's because the only bands yet announced so far are Sneakin' Out and The Fruit Bats. Solid bands, yes, but not as impressive as last year's lineup that featured The Builders and the Butchers, Old Light, Lost Lander, and Hilllstomp.
This year, Sneakin’ Out
will start off the celebrations with some unexpected tunes, including
signature covers of rock classics mixed with a little “real” classical
music. Headlining the evening is the Fruit
Bats, the Chicago to Portland transplants who are helping to redefine
the folk genre with a little bit of hippie combined with a little bit of
pop.
All proceeds benefit Loaves
& Fishes Centers, the Meals on Wheels People, an organization that
provides hot, nutritious meals for the elderly in need. This event is open to all ages. For more information, call Deschutes Brewery at 503-296-4906.

About Deschutes Brewery
Located in beautiful Bend, Oregon,
Deschutes Brewery is in the business of daring people to expect more
from their beer. That's why we started off in 1988, on the banks of the Deschutes River here in Bend, Oregon,
by selling Black Butte Porter at a time when others were sure a dark
beer would never catch on. Our brewers love to push the envelope,
especially if it makes someone nervous. But for us, the highest praise
is a raised glass and a toast of "Bravely Done!" For more information
