Hollywood Liquor in Portland, OR is one of the first of four Portland liquor stores to be selected by the Oregon Liquor Control Commission
(OLCC) to participate in a test program that allows it to sell beer and wine next to hard liquor and spirits. Currently Oregon liquor stores can only sell spirits, not beer and wine, if they have more than $1.5M in annual sales. This is another great step towards making craft beer available to more people and receiving more convenient and fair treatment by the OLCC.
Hollywood Liquor Store recently introduced a wider selection of over 600 wines and dozens of craft beers. Hollywood Liquor is the only pilot store in Portland; the others are located in Bend, Corvallis, and on the
coast.
“My store was already known for its great selection of
whiskey, scotch, and tequila. Now that I’ve
added wine and beer, we’re truly a one-stop shopping destination for party-goers
or the casual drinker,” claims Dan Miner, owner of Hollywood Liquor Store. “Nowhere else in Portland can you find such an
extensive selection of liquor, beer, and wine in one location,” adds Dan. He also boasts that his prices are very
competitive. The store is also open late
on weekends, and on Sundays as well.
About the company
– Hollywood Liquor Store is the oldest liquor store in the state of Oregon,
first opening in March of 1934 immediately following Prohibition. Since appointment as the agent in 2008, owner
Dan Miner has expanded hours, increased selection, and remodeled the
interior. Hollywood Liquor Store sat
atop the OLCC’s “Top 10 Stores” list for over 40 months as one of the fastest
growing liquor stores in the state. While
OLCC regulates liquor stores in Oregon, the businesses themselves are privately
owned by the appointed agent. Located in
the historic Hollywood District, Hollywood Liquor Store is centrally located
with easy access to I-84 and downtown.
