For those who feel brewers dinners have gotten overly expensive, this one with Lompoc's Bryan Kielty at the Tabor Tavern is a sure thing. Tabor Tavern, a new American gastropub I reviewed not long ago, features an exclusive beer from Lompoc made just for it already. Bryan is also an investor in the project, so this is a natural fit, and for only $45, a no-brainer. Also, being in my neighborhood ,I have made a good number of visits now to the Tabor and count myself among its fans.If I wasn't leaving for the GABF on that day, I would certainly be at this dinner.
Wednesday, October 10, at 7 p.m. Lompoc head brewer Bryan Keilty will join Tabor Tavern chef Chris Greer for an autumn-inspired feast featuring four courses accompanied by four Lompoc beers.
The first course
features giant smoked prawn, arugula, Marie rose sauce, and candied lemon,
served with Zig's Swig. The second course is grilled radicchio, bacon,
blue cheese, and thyme vinaigrette, served with Braggot. The third course
is Monster Mash braised beef short rib, root vegetable hash, wilted chard, and
pickled shallots, served with Monster Mash. And the final course is
raisin bread pudding, hazelnut caramel, goat cheese, and black pepper ice cream,
served with Big Bang Red.
The price is $45
per person, not including gratuity. Call 503-208-3544 for reservations. Tabor Tavern is located at 5325 E Burnside in Portland.
