From the recent Oregon Liquor Control Commission licensing applications, we have learned that Cascade Brewing will be opening a new location in Beaverton called the Cascade Brewing Blending House. Like the current barrel house has been doing, this location will feature all live, on-the-spot blends of various barrels. You can even make your own blends using a blending sheet on which you can choose each beer in 2oz increments for a total of a 10oz pour. The Blending House will also debut an exclusive blend just for its location called the "Suicide Blend" made of the collected runnings from the dump buckets at the end of the taps. The Suicide Blend will be collected at the end of each day and aggregated for a full month. Head blender Preston Weesner says of the Suicide, "This premium blend is the best of all worlds. The more popular of our beers naturally have more spillover into the dump buckets because we are pouring more of them, thus this is a blend of all of our most popular beers over the last month." With the seasonality of the beers and the different live tappings each month, the special Suicide Blend will naturally differ each time based on what's running off into the dump buckets. Because of the rarity of this Blenders Tap beer and because the blend will be refermented in the barrel, it therefore warrants an increased price of $10 for a 10oz glass. The Cascade Blending House will open to the public on June 1st with limited edition bottling of the "Suicide Blend" available for $30 per 750ml bottle, with a 2 bottle per person limit on opening day.
