Falling Sky Brewing’s New “Bike Here, Bike Share” Program

By  |

Falling Sky Brewing, Eugene’s best brewpub, now has its best bike program. “BIKE HERE, BIKE SHARE” will loan you a bicycle including lock, lights, and helmet for 24 hours for free.

You may be wondering, what’s the catch? Falling Sky owners only ask you that you take a picture of your bike trip and share it via social media like instagram or facebook and tag the pic of your ride.

Falling Sky calls the new program “the first of its kind- anywhere (at least that we know about),” but I know New Belgium has a similar program for employees and guests, though it’s not open to the public.

“We have tried to encourage biking from the beginning, so when the idea of a bike share came up, we thought- wow that would be awesome! Eugene is built for biking and we want people to get out and experience it,” said Jason Carriere, co-owner of Falling Sky.

To get rolling, Falling Sky purchased 7 underused bicycles from the University of Oregon. “We partnered with Arriving by Bike (on Willamette St in Eugene), a great local shop dedicated to encouraging urban biking, who will provide equipment and regular maintenance,” said Rob Cohen, co-owner. “We are all systems go!”

Falling Sky hopes that this will lead to many other businesses offering small bike share opportunities and eventually connect people throughout Eugene and other cities across the country.
