American Craft Beer Week’s Biggest Small Beer Ever Made

By  |

While Budweiser may have claimed itself to be America’s beer, it’s time to celebrate the small and independent craft brewers for American Craft Beer Week. The folks at the Brewers Association are working to #MakeSmallBeerBig, a campaign to unify the craft brewing community during this year’s ACBW, May 16-22. Craft brewers across the country have created the Biggest Small Beer Ever Made, a beer produced by breweries in all 50 states using the same ingredients and recipe.

More details on the campaign and surrounding ACBW events can be found at

Founder of The New School and most frequent contributor Ezra Johnson-Greenough has worked in the craft beer industry for almost 10 years, doing everything from illustrating beer labels to bartending at renowned beer bars and breweries like Belmont Station, Apex, Laurelwood and Upright Brewing. The Brewer’s Association and are totally silent on the details of the actual recipe and who brewed it. I know it’s an imperial porter, but have you heard any details about the recipe and who in Oregon brewed this beer?

The Biggest Small Beer recipe comes from my oldest lifelong friend Paul. Here is a heartfelt article about him and the story. And here is an article with the recipe.
