5 Questions for 10 Barrel Brewing’s Whitney Burnside

Introducing a new semi-regular series in which we check in with brewers on what they are drinking, eating, enjoying and what’s currently bubbling away in their fermenters. For our first edition, we feature Whitney Burnside, Head Brewer at the Portland location of 10 Barrel Brewing.

 

Q: What have you been drinking lately?

Whitney: I have been opting for drinks that are appropriate for the cold weather. Barrel aged beers of all sorts, hot cocktails, and bourbon.

 

Q: Where or what have you been eating lately?

Charcuterie and cheese, ramen, and roasted chicken.

 

Q: What’s on tap?

Various types of IPAs, Pilsner, Scottish, Honey Rye Barleywine, Old ale, Schwarzbier, Rye CDA, Coconut stout, Belgian dark strong, and Brett-trois Saison.


Q: What’s in the tanks?

Kolsch, Grapefruit Gose with honey, cardamom and vanilla, Single hop Yellow Sub IPA, and Pearl


Q: What are you currently excited about?

Spring time, the release of my first PDX barrel aged beer “Alton Bruin,” and a Belgian Tripel that has been aging in Herradura tequila barrels with grapefruit and lime.

    My daughter works for 10 Barrel in Bend, Oregon and I am totally excited to visit in February 2017. Love their brews!!
