Eugene, Oregon’s Oakshire Brewing is expanding on its terrific Sun Made Cucumber Berliner Weisse with a special raspberry version added to the core seasonal program. The brewery has also announced that Lead Brewer Dan Russo is now becoming head of production, while Pabst veteran Jamie Walker joins the company as its new Sales Director.

Sun Made Raspberry Berliner Weisse is available on draft and in 12oz cans and 6-packs this February through April 2017.

Commercial Description: Our Sun Made Raspberry Berliner Weisse, like the original Sun Made Cucumber, begins its life as an American Kettle-Sour Beer. Pleasant acidity presents as tartness in the beer which gives a lively fresh flavor to the locally grown raspberries added at the end of the primary fermentation. A beautiful hazy pink color reminiscent of raspberry lemonade behind the experience of bright tart raspberry aroma and flavor with a crisp clean finish. 4% ABV 12 IBU

Beginning January 30, 2017, Dan Russo formally took over management responsibilities for Oakshire’s collaborative production team of seven. Together, the brewing team is responsible for producing a wide array of exceptional, award-winning beers from our Core Year Round and Core Seasonal brewing programs, as well as the extremely popular limited release beers from our Vintage and Pilot programs. Under Dan’s leadership in 2017, Oakshire will continue its expansion of the Pilot, Vintage and Core Seasonal programs, including the development of a series of fruited Open-fermented American Farmhouse Ales and four different offerings from our ‘kettle-soured’ Sun Made Berliner Weisse line up.

Within a year of joining Oakshire, Dan was awarded the Glen Hay Falconer Scholarship to the American Brewers Guild, where he completed the Intensive Brewing Sciences and Engineering Program, and, in January, 2014, Dan joined Oakshire’s production team. Dan was promoted to Lead Brewer in January, 2015, and is now stepping into the leadership position following the departure of long-time Oakshire brewer, leader and friend, Tyler West, whose last day was January 27. Throughout his time with Oakshire, beginning in 2012, Tyler exemplified Oakshire’s core values through his steadfast work ethic and dedication to safety, quality and constant improvement.
