Prost! Portland Hosts KÖLSCH FEST

By  |

This Saturday, June 17, Prost! Portland helps celebrate Portland Beer Week with its own celebration of the ultimate German summer beer style—Kölsch—by replacing all the taps with different German Kölsch beers.

Further tipping a hat to this ancient beer from Cologne, the beers will be served exclusively in Stange (or pole) glasses, the traditional beer glass for Kölsch in Cologne that hold up to .2 liters of beer. The small-sized glasses are intentional, urging Kölsch drinkers to imbibe quickly so as not to let the beer warm and lose its light effervescence. Additionally, guests can also order a Kranz (or wreath) of Kölsch, a traditional carousel-style beer carrier that fits up to 11 stanges. Prost! will also feature food specials inspired by the annual Carnival in Köln, cooked up by Chef Graham Chaney of Stammtisch including a Schweinebraten (roast pork) sandwich.

Featured breweries include: Früh, Reissdorf, Sünner, Braufactum and a special release of Gaffel for the first time on draft!

Kölsch Fest takes place from 11 AM to 9PM and is open to the public. Prices vary. Prost! Portland 4237 N Mississippi Ave, Portland, OR 97217
