Golden Valley Releases “The Word from the Wood” in New Barrel-Aged Bottle Series

By  |

Golden Valley Brewing out in McMinnville, Oregon, has a special new line of bottle-conditioned bomber releases, debuting with “The Word from the Wood.” GV’s Belgian-style barrel-aged beers have been worth taking note of the last few years, and this sounds like a worthy contender for your bills.

 Golden Valley brewery description:

Back in December Golden Valley’s brewers decided to brew a Belgian-style tripel- “The Word”-  to age in some Pinot Noir Barrels from local vintner Soter Vineyards. The Word was brewed from Belgian Pilsner malt, Cara-hell, Vienna malt, and rolled oats, with Saaz, Tettnanger, and Mt. Hood hops.  Fortunately not all the beer went into barrels- as some of it went on to win a gold medal at this year’s North American Beer Awards.  After six months in barrels, “The Word from the Wood” emerged with beautiful oak and vine top notes to complement the spicy and floral aromatics of the gold medal winning tripel.  A portion of the barrel aged brew was blended with freshly brewed tripel and bottle conditioned.  These bottles are the first in a new series of bottle conditioned special releases from Golden Valley Brewery.

The Word from the Wood bottles are available for purchase at Golden Valley Brewery’s McMinnville and Beaverton locations as well as:
