By  |
Cascade Brewing will release Rose City Sour, a blend of wheat and blond ales aged in oak wine barrels for up to 14 months with rose petals, rose hips, and hibiscus tea. The beer will be available in 750 ml bottles and on draught through Cascade’s regular distribution channels, as well as in-house at both its Portland area pubs.
More from a press release:

Celebrating Portland’s reputation as the “City of Roses,” Rose City Sour captures the delicate floral aromas of fresh roses matched with notes of dried cranberries, pomegranates and a hint of white pepper. It comes in at seven percent alcohol by volume.

“We are so excited to release this blend, which we expect to become one of our flagship brands moving forward,” explained Tim Larrance, vice president of marketing and sales. “Rose City Sour pays homage to our hometown of Portland – known worldwide as the City of Roses – and the emblematic rose takes center stage in this fantastic Northwest sour beer.”

Rose City Sour is a Tier One offering; Cascade’s bottles have distinct label styles for each of the three Cascade Brewing pricing tiers, with each label within the tier utilizing distinctive colors to clearly differentiate each beer. The tiers differ by the style of beer used in the product, the type ingredients contained within, the time aged in the barrels and types of barrels used.
