Central City Brewing Launches in Portland

One of Canada’s best breweries, Central City Brewing, is finally bringing its canned beers to Portland, and brewer Gary Lohin will be here for the release party on March 20th at Belmont Station.

If not from the terrific brews, you might remember Central City in the news a while back for its Red Betty IPA. This beer was once known as Red Racer until the company was sued by Bear Republic Brewing because of that brewery’s similarly-named Racer 5 IPA. I did a taste test comparison back then that had surprising results.

This Thursday from 5-8pm you can meet-the-brewer and try four different beers from Central City: Red Betty India Session Ale, Red Betty India Pale Ale, Imperial IPA and an Imperial Porter.

Thursday March 20th 5-8pm

Actually It only needs to be “Red Betty” in the US, still Red Racer here. The Thor’s Hammer BW, and IIPA are particularly yum.
