Wilsonville, Oregon, is getting a bit more beery with the city’s 2nd brewery, Vanguard Brewing. In 2014, Wilsonville got The Beer Station and very recently the 3rd location of Neighbor Dudes taphouse, which has its own brewery, Ordnance Brewing, located in Boardman, Oregon. Wilsonville previously had the McMenamins Old Church brewery as its only beery claim to fame.

Vanguard Brewing will be the first brewery in Wilsonville outside of the McMenamins location, and is finalizing a lease at 27501 SW 95th Ave, Wilsonville, OR 97070. Brewer Don Anderson and his wife and business partner, Lin, are planning a 15bbl production brewery with an 800sq. ft. tasting room. The brewhouse is being designed by Global Stainless in Canby and awaiting order, with plans to open the brewery by summer 2015.

Don Anderson has been homebrewing since 1990. The last two and a half years he has been brewing professionally at Lake Oswego’s Stickmen Brewery & Skewery and says, “Tim and JT are great guys who allowed me to learn along with them how to brew on a larger system.”

He continues, “there seems to be a trend towards more and more exotic tastes and ingredients in the craft beer scene the last few years. We hope to fill the void left behind for good, quality, beers that are closer to classic styles in flavor and ABV. Of course, on top of that we will have a big and hoppy IPA and the occasional experimental batch.”

Wow…that’s just rude. Are you that angry and closed minded? What beer have you brewed that has been distributed and well received at many Partland pubs? Stop hating until you have something to really contribute.

With nearly thirty years in and around the craft brewing business (production, distribution and hospitality), I have more than enough to contribute. Sorry you’re offended by one pithy remark that, I admit, does show my contempt for the Stickmen enterprise. If this brewer brings real skills, some business acumen and no bad habits from Stickmen to his new enterprise, I’ll happily eat…er, drink my words.

You are an idiot. Apparently your mother wears army boots, and they’ve been filled with Budweiser. Is her name Dixie?
Peace, love, hoppy new year.. Hope you start 2015 without your attitude …!!!!
