VIP & Badge Holder-Only Craft Brewers Conference Parties

Craft Brewers Conference stadium

The New School is the only place you will find a round-up of VIP, invite-only, and CBC badge holder-only parties for this week’s Craft Brewers Conference. Be forewarned that these events are not open to the public, and I would not attempt to attend unless you have a Craft Brewers Conference badge. That said, if you do, it’s going to be a hell of a week and you can find us at most of these open bar events! Catch you on the flipside, dear readers.

CBC Welcome Reception:

The conference really kicks off with the welcome reception, held at the Veteran’s Memorial Coliseum on Tuesday at 6:30pm. Usually this event is basically a large brewfest in itself, only everything is free and you should bring a bag for all the schwag–including exclusive bottles of beer–home with you. Finishing early at 8pm, the opening reception leads right into a series of huge afterparties on Tuesday night for badge-holders only.

Deschutes: Barrels, Bites & Brews – with Kyle Hollingsworth of String Cheese Incident

Tuesday, April 14 | 7:00 pm – 11:00 pm

Deschutes knows how to throw down for a good party, which is one of the reasons why its opening kickoff party on Tuesday is at the top of my list. Deschutes is even closing down its Portland pub for the occasion, and since that place is a cash cow that’s normally packed, you know the brewery is not going to turn away the public for a snooze-fest. Deschutes will be tapping every pub reserve series brew created in the last 1.5 years, paired with small bites from the kitchen. Attendees will be among the first to try a new year-round beer in bottles. There will also be live music from Kyle Hollingsworth (of String Cheese Incident), partnered with Euforquestra and the Quick & Easy Boys!  Last but not least, there will be some kind of special barrel tasting and a promise of more surprises. Deschutes Brewery & Public House 210 NW 11th St 7pm – 11pm.

Ninkasi Space Oddity Ball

Friday, April 17, 7pm – Midnight @ Wonder Ballroom

Ninkasi is taking over the Wonder Ballroom (which seems to be the favorite venue for afterparties) for a VIP CBC release party celebrating “Ground Control.” The new Imperial Stout is fermented with an Ale yeast that traveled to space as well as Oregon hazelnuts, cocoa nibs and star anise. There is a promise of other rare and delicious Ninkasi beers. Live performances by Vokab Kompany, Haunted Summer, and Portland’s own Adventure Galley. The best part though is all attendees will receive a collectible glow-in-the-dark astronaut event pass, hand screen-printed by gig poster artist Neal Williams. Space-themed costumes are encouraged!
