Leikam Brewing Celebrates Grand Opening at Growlers Hawthorne

Leikam Brewing

Leikam Brewing, Oregon’s first certified kosher brewery, celebrates its Grand Opening on Sunday, August 16th, at Growlers Hawthorne, coinciding with the Hawthorne Street Fair. Now there is even more reason to make it over to SE Hawthorne on the 16th as just 2 blocks away from Growlers Hawthorne is The Mighty Mites session fest held at the exact same time from 11am to 7pm. Founded by Theo and Sonia Marie Leikam, the certified kosher, community-supported nanobrewery debuted its first beer at The New School’s New Breweries Showcase at Baileys Taproom in June. Now with the 5-barrel brewery in full production, the couple can officially celebrate their grand opening.

The opening will feature 4 of the couple’s beers, including two of the flagships, the Shoreline Pale and the Janis Hoplin IPA. The other beers featured will include the Funky Town Apricot Ale and a limited edition double IPA. There will also be live music, giveaways, and lots of fun for all.

Located in the backyard of the Leikams’ Southeast Portland home, the brewery focuses on classic Northwest styles with the occasional experimental brew. A production facility that is not open to the public, Leikam Brewing is unique in that it offers a convenient subscription-based distribution option to its customers. Members can subscribe to their Community Supported Brewery (CSB), which models itself after successful Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs. You can also find them on tap at a variety of local bars and growler fill stations.

Customers can order growler subscriptions, learn about sampling events, find out who is carrying Leikam Brewing on tap, and follow the brewery for updates at leikambrewing.com and on social media.
