Portland’s first ever Vegan Beer & Food Festival takes place this Saturday, September 26, at Zidell Yards on the South Waterfront, and the organizers have given us a first look at the beer list, as well as two tickets ($90 value!) to give away to New School readers! To Win: Tweet this article & tag @NewSchoolBeer or share it on Facebook and tag our page @The New School and we will choose a winner!

The Vegan Beer and Food Fest is far more than a standard beer fest, this is a showcase for the area’s best vegan food and restaurants and expands even further with a Vegan “Pop-Up” Marketplace with craft goods like clothing and vinyl records. You can chill out with a beer and fresh food while playing cornhole or giant jenga and watching such A-List bands as Thao & The Get Down Stay Down. Hell, there is even something for the non-drinkers in a Kombucha Garden with more than 6 different providers.

The Vegan Beer and Food Festival has also managed to stand out in its beer selection; somehow the fest is getting away with UNLIMITED 4oz pours with a tasting glass, i.e. no individual tickets. I haven’t seen this done before in Oregon because our liquor control commission doesn’t like the unchecked nature of it. ALSO, there will be some awesome California breweries that are not even available in Oregon, like Golden Road Brewing and Modern Times. Those interesting touches alongside great Oregon and regional breweries–plus great cider, too–makes the fest extra worthy of your attention.

Very cool to see some ciders on the list! Looks like a cool event, but I’m in Seattle unfortunately. Thanks for sharing.
