Thanksgiving – Thursday June 27th, 2015

Prost! Portland

If your avoiding the fam on Thanksgiving, you would be hard pressed to find a better place to be than Prost! Portland who will be hosting their 7th Annual Prostgiving on Thanksgiving Day with the pub opening at 6pm for a FREE dinner.

Prost will be preparing over 100lbs of turkey along with stuffing, mashed potatoes, and more. They encourage(but don’t require) guests to bring their favorite side dish or dessert to share on this special night. While all the food you can eat is free, Prost will be accepting cash donations that go directly to charity that will be used to assist families in need over the holidays.

Tanuki

Also Tanuki in the Montavilla neighborhood of Southeast Stark will be open for a special Thanksgiving dinner. Tanuki is not really a beer bar but it is foodie heaven with lots of sake and owner/chef Janis has proved her pairing/palate prowess by using my ultimate favorite Turkey pairing beer — Alaskan Smoked Porter.

Reserve your table by choosing a time between 3pm and 5pm on Thursday and leaving a message to them on their Facebook page. The menu consists of:
Roast organic turkey, Alaskan Brewing Co Smoked Porter mac & Cheese, sausage stuffing, wild mushroom gravy, potatoes, vegetable, soup, homemade yeast rolls and a dessert of mystery and suspense! Only $25 per person and proceeds go to benefit Janis’ meals for the homeless this season.

Roscoe’s

Just a block away from Tanuki on 81st and SE Stark is one of Portland’s great neighborhood dives and beer bars. Roscoe’s doesnt close for no one and has a menu that consists of southern classics like Jambalaya, Gumbo, Mac & Cheese plus pub grub like Burgers, Fries and Chicken Strips. The 20 or so taps all rotate fantastic beer and cider and they will be open like any day until 2am.

The Beermongers

With a selection of 600+ bottles and 8 rotating taps, I would be surprised if readers of this site did not already know about The Beermongers. Did you know they seem to never close down? As usual they will be open this Thanksgiving to about 11pm with the usual great selection of beers and maybe some folks sharing special botttles as well.
