Widmer Wagers Against Columbus vs the Timbers at MLS Cup Final

As is becoming common place when two sports ball teams meet over some kind of ball tossing event, Portland’s Widmer Brothers Brewing wagered against Ohio’s Columbus Brewing Company. Widmer is of course betting that the Portland Timbers would win the MLS Cup Final this Sunday, December 5 against Columbus Crew SC kickball football soccer team.

The losing brewery must host the winner to brew a collaborative beer named in honor of the winning team. The host brewery will facilitate the brewing process at their brewery and provide the ingredients.

Both breweries have ties to their local MLS teams, with Widmer Brothers Brewing being a 15-year partner of the Portland Timbers. Earlier this year, the Timbers and Widmer Brothers announced the largest co-branded product launch between a craft brewery and a MLS team. The best-selling craft beer in Oregon – Widmer Brothers Hefeweizen – is “The Official Craft Beer of the Portland Timbers” and has featured Portland Timbers co-branded packaging for the 2015 MLS Regular and Post Season.
