Beergarden and Tap & Growler 2nd Annual IPA Bracket Blind Taste-Off

ipa_march_madness

Eugene’s Beergarden and Tap & Growler will host the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tourney-themed 2nd annual IPA Bracket Blind Taste-Off. This year’s events will crown a “Best IPA on the West Coast.” Each location will host 8 established IPAs from up and down the west coast, hand selected by teams comprised of their staff members. Each flight will come with the opportunity to vote on which brews move on to the next stage.

More from the press release:

Four separate brewing regions are represented in this taste-off–Oregon, Washington, Northern California, and Southern California. Each team picked an IPA from each region to represent their corner of the bracket. The selection criteria for the IPAs were readily available year round availability, less than 8% ABV, and highly rated/award winning or staff favorites. The four Oregon beers were the final four from last year’s competition with 16 Oregon IPAs.

The first week will consist of 4 separate blind tastings from each corner of the bracket. Two taster trays will be available at each location the first week, each tray is hand selected by one Beer-tender-team. The top two beers from each tray will move onto the second week, featuring one flight of four IPAs at each location. Week three brings the top two beers from each location to BOTH Beergarden and Tap & Growler, making the same final four showdown at each location. The final two beers will go head to head at both locations as 8oz pours Saturday, April 2nd, through Monday, April 4th.

Both locations will have IPA brackets and NCAA Basketball Tourney brackets for anyone and everyone to fill out and see who can pick the closest bracket to IPA/basketball reality! There will be 3 prize baskets for the winners of each of these bracket contests. All 16 breweries involved will be contributing swag for these prizes!

All taster trays are randomized and blinded. The IPAs, teams and flight entries are:
