Ordnance Brewing Partners with General Distributors

Ordnance Brewing of Boardman, Oregon has signed a distribution deal with General Distributors, assuring we will be seeing much more from this new brewery. Just this January of 2016 we reported that the newly opened 2015 brewery was already expanding from a 5bbl system to a 50bbl brewhouse and beginning to bottle, and recently brought on Will Minderhout, a sales manager previously with Reverend Nat’s Hard Cier.

Dewey Weddington, Director of Sales and Marketing for Ordnance Brewing, has been hitting the books hard in an effort to secure the best distributor for the brand. “We set out to align with a distributor who could understand our vision, goals and long term objectives. We honestly knew that GDI was the team for us after many lengthy discussions, tastings, emails and a great deal of laughter. Everything felt right; it was like we’d been working together a long time.  After that it was just a matter of doing our due diligence which always pointed us back to General. We are excited to join the GDI team and the outstanding family of breweries they represent.”

Weddington and Coleman aren’t the only ones who are ready to sell some beer, VP Craft and Specialty at General Distributors, Bob Repp, adds “We are so excited to begin our partnership officially with Ordnance. Aligning with a brewery that shares our values on quality brands, smart growth, and great people, we knew that Ordnance would be a great fit in the GDI family.”

Ordnance Brewing runs a 50 barrel system with production capability of up to 15,000bbl annually. Currently, the brewery offers a set of five core beers including a Kolsch, both an English and West Coast IPA, a Rye Extra Pale, a blueberry wheat called Bloops, and a series of limited edition beers. “We have a fantastic brewer who can make the kind of everyday enjoyable beers people want to drink but also intriguing barrel aged and experimental brews,” noted Weddington. “With a solid line up of quality beers, packaging developed to work hard, and a statewide sales team ready to support our distribution partners, we’ve got the foundation set to run hard and long. More importantly I have faith in the team and our ability to build a truly great local brewery,” Dewey added

GDI’s General Manager, Tiny Irwin, proudly boasts “Brewers are key in keeping the overall industry innovative and growing, all these talented brewers are providing beer lovers with more beer style and flavor choices than ever before. We couldn’t be more excited to add Ordnance to our expansive portfolio here at General Distributors and certainly look forward to building upon the relationship we’ve already established. Welcome to the family!”

It’ll be great until they screw their employees again and go on strike yet again

Ordnance is good beer. To bad they are partnering with General Distributors as general manager Tiny Irwin and the ownership of the Charles Fick family are running the company into the ground. Every day we continue to lose tap handles at local taverns who no longer want to do business with General because of the failed leadership at General.
