The New School is excited to host one of our heroes, the inspirational and iconic Master Blender and Imbibe Magazine’s 2016 Beer Person of the YearLauren Salazar. Lauren holds the title of Wood Cellar Manager, Blender, and Specialty Brand Manager at New Belgium Brewing. Known for creating such modern beer masterpieces as Le Terroir, Lauren will be in Portland on December 14th and 15th for meet and greets, tastings and a special beer pairing dinner presented by The New School and New Belgium.

About Lauren Woods Salazar, New Belgium Brewing Company
Lauren is the Wood Cellar Manager, Blender and the Specialty Brand Manager at New Belgium Brewing Company. She held the title of Sensory Staff Specialist from 1998-2012. Lauren focused primarily on sensory science, where she developed the sensory program from a basic production check to its present world-class program.
Another focus is the education of New Belgium’s sales staff and distributing partners in beer production and flavor profiles of craft beer.
Lauren is a judge at the World Beer Cup and Great American Beer Festival. She is a faculty member of Siebel Institute of Technology and has presented for the CBC, WBC, AHA, ASBC, MBAA and others conferences and associations with various acronyms.
Lauren received her BSW from the University of Georgia a lifetime ago and holds a Certificate from UC Davis for Applied Sensory Science and Consumer Testing.

Founder of The New School and most frequent contributor Ezra Johnson-Greenough has worked in the craft beer industry for almost 10 years, doing everything from illustrating beer labels to bartending at renowned beer bars and breweries like Belmont Station, Apex, Laurelwood and Upright Brewing. He has also had a hand in creating events like the Portland Fruit Beer Festival, Portland Beer Week, and the Brewing up Cocktails series.
