The Bier Stein’s Invitational Beer Fest Returns

By  |

Don’t miss the second annual The Bier Stein Invitational Beer Fest in Eugene on Saturday, June 3rd. I attended the first year and despite the sweltering heat there was great beer, lots of familiar beer faces and a great variety of beer without lines. This year Eugene’s finest The Bier Stein bottleshop and taproom will again take over its parking lot for the fest.

More from the press release:

Last year’s fest was blazing hot and a lively success; we hope to beat the heat and provide more fun this year! This year’s Invitational will feature Oregon beer, cider, and mead from over 30 producers pouring two unique brews each. The Bier Stein is working closely with the breweries to acquire a range of styles outside of the breweries’ flagship brands. That means seasonal, one-off, cellared, barrel-aged, and “altered” beers will be the focus of the fest. A brewer or representative from nearly every brewery will be pouring beer from noon until 3pm.

In addition to the excellent established breweries at the Fest, we are happy to feature two brand new Oregon breweries: Little Beast (Beaverton) and Reach Break (Astoria). This will be one of the first opportunities to taste those beers in Eugene!

Matt van Wyk is still trying to master the Pilsner Urquell Triple Pour to this day

The Bier Stein’s kitchen and bar will be in operation as usual, and there will be a food truck in the parking lot. There will be plenty of tent space for shade, tables, and seating. Bring your own water bottle to fill from a convenient water station. Eugene’s Circadian Soda and Elevate Kombucha will be offering samples of their refreshing concoctions.

The festival goes from noon to 8pm. It is a 21+ event and cash only. $20 entry fee on the day of the festival (no advance tix) includes a souvenir tulip glass and 5 taster tickets. Pours will be 4oz. and range from 1-4 tickets per pour. Designated drivers may enter for $5.

A call for volunteers has been issued for OLCC Servers Permit holders for pouring shifts from 3-6pm and 6-8pm, and other festival support from noon-3, 3-6, and 6-8 with perks for all volunteers. Get involved and updated through the event’s Facebook page and at thebierstein.com/events, or e-mail aaron(at)thebierstein(dot)com to become a volunteer.

About The Bier Stein Bottleshop & Pub

The Bier Stein Bottleshop & Pub opened in July of 2005 as a craft beer and sandwich shop. It quickly became a microbrew mecca in Eugene, and has been recognized as one of the best beer bars in the country. In 2013, The Bier Stein relocated to a much larger space to accommodate over 1,000 bottles, 30 taps, and lots of friends. We strive to create a space where fellow beer enthusiasts can gather and enjoy the widest selection of beer in Oregon under one roof. We love and support our community of independent breweries around the world!

Founder of The New School and most frequent contributor Ezra Johnson-Greenough has worked in the craft beer industry for almost 10 years, doing everything from illustrating beer labels to bartending at renowned beer bars and breweries like Belmont Station, Apex, Laurelwood and Upright Brewing.
