Breweries in the Gorge to Host 2nd Annual BIG Swig

November 11th marks the day for a special day of beer in the Columbia River Gorge. The Saturday afternoon event bears resemblance to Portland’s Zwicklemania or the Washington Brewers Association’s WA Open House. In its 2nd year, The BIG Swig has already become a destination event. This year, beer-lovers have the opportunity to have a great positive economic impact for these local businesses that were negatively effected by this summer’s fires in the region.

Columbia Gorge craft beer non-profit organization hosts second annual brewery open-house event.

Hood River, Oregon – Breweries in the Gorge (B.I.G.) is hosting their second annual multi-brewery event – The B.I.G. Swig – a one-day event inviting craft beer fans for brewery open houses, beer tastings, and more. B.I.G. is a non-profit organization that is comprised of 13 breweries located in the Columbia Gorge region of Washington and Oregon, spanning from Cascade Locks, OR to Goldendale, WA. On Saturday, November 11th, 2017, each participating brewery will open their doors between 12pm to 4pm for a unique look at what makes craft beer in Gorge so special.

The Columbia Gorge region is known for churning out world class beers and is host to a wide variety of brewery concepts and sizes. Twelve of the thirteen breweries will host an open-house that will reflect each individual brewery beer styles and approach to the craft beer culture here in the Gorge.

“The last couple of months have been tough on all of us in the Gorge with the Eagle Creek Fire and I-84 closure, we are so delighted to invite everyone out to support our Gorge owned breweries and staff,” says Caroline Park, owner of Thunder Island Brewing Co in Cascade Locks, Oregon.

B.I.G. is one of the only non-profit craft beer organizations that has members in two different states. Despite a variety of challenges operating between the two states, B.I.G. has been successfully by working together, sharing ideas, and promoting craft beer throughout the Gorge.
