Gigantic Brewing has collaborated with Michigan’s Jolly Pumpkin Brewing on an Asian-inspired barrel-aged saison called “Phuket.” This coming Tuesday, November 21st, Gigantic is hosting a release party at the brewery taproom with Jolly Pumpkin owner/brewer Ron Jeffries in attendance and with 750ml bottles on sale.
Phuket is a barrel aged saison made with local, Oregon-grown Asian pears, jasmine rice, and palm sugar. Together with Jolly Pumpkin, two versions were brewed, one at each location, and on Tuesday you will be able to taste them side-by-side. Gigantic aged its version for 14 months in oak barrels, and then bottle conditioned it for two more months to perfectly marry all flavors together. Tasting notes: fruit sweetness accompanies juicy pear flavor notes of cherry pie and pineapple finishes with a dry, vinous mouth feel. 7.4% ABV.
