Ultimate Guide to Homebrew Con 2018 Parties, Tours & Outside Events

Portland, Oregon is lucky enough to host the 2018 Homebrew Con this week, and there are tons of parties and events around town with Brewcraft and Culmination Brewing kicking things off Wednesday night. For these events, after parties and side events you don’t have to be a conference attendee but can still show up for some fun and beers. Check out our ultimate rundown of all the 2018 Homebrew Con events below.

Little Beast Brewing Daily Special Tappings

Tues. – Sat. June 26-30th 3pm – 10pm
Little Beast Brewing Beer Garden – 3412 SE Division St. Portland

We will be tapping a special beer each night this week! Animal Family, Dream State, Black Cap, Golden Stone and a new beer release on Friday – Pomme Sour. Our mixed cultured beers give you an idea of what flavor diversity comes from the use of many different yeast and bacteria to produce beer. The brewers will be on hand to discuss the beers and how we employ microflora in fermentation.

Brewcraft USA Homebrew Con Kickoff Party

Wednesday, June 27th 6:30pm – 9:30pm

Culmination Brewing – 2117 NE Oregon St, Portland, Oregon 97232

From 630-930 we will be hosting the Homebrew Convention Kick Off Party at Culmination. This event is free for everyone and we expect about 500 people. The party will be 80’s themed with tons of neon, DJs, giveaways, food trucks, and 5 professional breweries making beers using ingredients available to home brewers via Brewcraft USA.
The participating breweries are Culmination, Grains of Wrath, Breakside, Level, Zoiglhaus, Migration, and Oregon Mead & Cider.
Zoiglhaus will actually be provide wort to 4 home brewers to do what they please with.

Homebrew Con Welcome Party and Tour

Hey, did you guys know we’re an offshoot of Mainbrew Homebrew Supplies? Well, Homebrewers of America are descending on PDX for Homebrew Con, and what better way to kick things off than with some tasty new beer?! Our friends at Oakshire/Sunriver/Ruse brewed up a tasty Hazy IIPA called Green Noise, and we got our hands on one of the few kegs in PDX. Let’s party and talk homebrew!

BREWVANA Bus Tour: Pacific NW Ingredients

Wednesday, June 27th 9:40am – 2:40pm

Join BREWVANA and Bolt Minister from 54/40 Brewing for a tour to discover the Pacific northwest best ingredients at key locations in Portland. We will do a deep dive into each ingredient at each location with a industry professional to educate us!

Stop number one Steinbarts – Portland’s oldest home-brew supply shop, celebrating their 100th anniversary this year! We will discuss MALT- different types varieties how to brew with them, tasting them and experience beer brewed with different malts.

Stop number two is Imperial organic yeast, a yeast laboratory right here in Portland. We will get a tour of the facility and chat with the professionals about different strains best practices for YEAST and what makes organic Imperial yeast different.

For our third stop we will head over the river to the pearl district to visit Portland’s oldest brewpub Bridgeport for lunch and talk about WATER! A full meal will be included here.

Last we will head to LABbrewatory, sister company to Kettleworks. As we sip on beer, we’ll discuss brewing equipment and HOPS!

Includes beer samples, journal, pretzel necklace, full lunch and transportation. Bolt will be on the bus to answer any questions and help lead the tour! Please note that CLOSED TOED shoes are REQUIRED.

Northern Brewer/10 Barrel Homebrew Con 2018 Kickoff Party

We’re teaming up with hometown great 10 Barrel Brewing Company to say welcome to Portland and here’s to Homebrew Con 2018! Join us to sample the best 10 Barrel has to offer and swap stories with fellow homebrewers from across the country. We’ll be handing out $2 Pint vouchers good for the whole weekend. And we have a special prize in store for the first 100 brewers who deliver our secret password at the door. (Shhh. The password is…FRUIT BAZOOKA.)

Portland Kettle Works Tours & Labrewatory Beer Garden

Visit the Labrewatory beer garden with food by Tamale Boy at the Portland Kettle Works brewery fabrication plant. Informative tours of the plant where professional brewing equipment is made for the worldwide craft brewing industry are included. The event is hosted by Labrewatory and Portland Kettle Works.

BrewVana buses will provide transportation from the Convention Center between 5-7 on Thursday and Friday

Free Pint with a Meal at Lompoc Brewing for Homebrew Con Attendees

In honor of Homebrew Con, we’ll be offering a guided tasting, opening the floor for discussion, and divulging the recipes for the featured beers. Little Beast Brewing Pomme Sour Release

Friday, June 29th noon-11pm
Little Beast Brewing Beer Garden – 3412 SE Division St. Portland

Tonight we release our newest seasonal – Pomme Sour. We picked over 400 lbs of Quince fruit and fermented them for several months with 2 Saccharomyces, Brettanomyces bruxellensis – var Lambicus, 2 strains of Lactobacillus and Pediococcus. The base beer was composed of Belgian pilsner and German wheat malts – 100% stainless steel fermentation. Come meet the brewers and enjoy the Beer Garden!

BNA13 – Brewing Network 13th Anniversary Street Festival

The Brewing Network is back to celebrate 13 years in Brewcasting and Beer Radio! Following tradition, we are partying in conjunction with HomebrewCon, this year in Portland Oregon. Along with our friends at Base Camp Brewing, we’re shutting down the streets and gettin’ down with tons of beer, music and all the BN antics you’ve come to expect from us. Close out the biggest homebrew event on earth with us, and help celebrate 13 amazing years of Brewing Network information, entertainment, and great times!

Charlie 2018 Beer Release & HomeBrew Con Afterparty

Join us as we raise a pint to our friend, Charlie Papazian with a limited release beer in his honor. Dubbed Charlie 2018, this commemorative beer was brewed by John Maier in celebration of Charlie’s last HomeBrew Con & his many contributions to professional and home brewers alike.

Charlie 2018 will be released in limited edition 22oz bottles and on draft at select Rogue Pubs.

To conclude the Portland HomeBrew Con we invite the public to join us for a special patio party as we tap the Charlie 2018 & raise a glass to his incredible career in brewing.

Charlie and John will begin signing the limited release, Charlie 2018 bottles from 6 to 6:30pm, so get yours early.
