Last month Cascade Brewing’s longtime brewmaster the iconic Ron Gansberg quietly left the company and yesterday Kevin Martin was officially named the  new Director of Brewery Operations. Martin will oversee all aspects of brewing and blending operations at Cascade Brewing. He will be facilitating the production of Cascade Northwest sour ales at the same level of quality that has become synonymous with Cascade Brewing over the last 20 years. Cascade also recently released a new vintage – Kriek 2017 in bottles and draft.

More from a press release:

“Working closely with the production and sales teams, I am committed to fostering a unified vision that informs the planning, brewing, blending, packaging and quality management of our beers while continuing to support the spontaneity and inventiveness of our live barrel and small blend programs,” stated Martin.
Martin will also be working to expand Cascade’s portfolio of beers so that the company can continue to innovate in an ever-changing craft beer landscape and explore new ways to express the talent and creativity of the Cascade team.
A homebrewer since 2003, Martin has served as a winery cellarman in Oregon, New Zealand and Australia. He was a brewery intern at Laurelwood Brewing in Portland and went on to graduate from the American Brewers Guild course in Brewing Science and Engineering. He joined Cascade Brewing in 2012 as a cellarman, and was promoted to Lead Blender in 2014. Martin graduated Portland State University’s Business of Craft Brewing program in 2015.
