pFriem Family Brewers has released Higgins Anniversary Ale, a collaboration with downtown Portland’s farm-to-table pioneers Higgins Restaurant for its 25th Anniversary. Throughout this March, Higgins is celebrating its 25th anniversary with special collaborations, food specials, dinners and this new Belgian-style farmhouse saison which is available on draft at Higgins and pFriem with a small amount of caged and corked 375ml bottles on sale at the former, plus Belmont Station. If you don’t know, Higgins is one of Portland’s oldest fine dining institutions and has long been a beer geek destination, an early place that embraced both the farm-to-table movement but also craft and imported beer.
Higgins Restaurant opened in 1994 with chef and co-owner Greg Higgins using his close ties to Pacific Northwest farmers to spearhead his pioneering menus, which eventually landed him a 2002 James Beard award as Best Chef Northwest. Co-owned by Greg and Paul Mallory, the landmark restaurant prides itself on service, dedicated wine and spirits offerings, a world-class beer program, and a showcase of the bounty of the Pacific Northwest.
