Lagunitas Brewing has announced plans for international expansion and intent to open taprooms in Paris, Barcelona, São Paulo, and London in the next year. The Petaluma, California-based brewery is now owned by Heineken and recently opened an Amstertdam location called BrewTap where CEO Maria Stipp and brewmasters Jeremy Marshall and Mary Nowak announced the expansion plans before leading a tasting.
The newly announced taprooms are just one part of the ambitious Lagunitas growth plan over the next year. According to Stipp, Lagunitas has doubled its international growth over the last 12 months and is opening a new brewery in the Netherlands. Clearly, Lagunitas is not sufferring the same fate as companies like Ballast Point and Green Flash that also announced ambitious expansion plans and are now on life support.
The newly announced international taprooms are just the beginning of plans to open new locations across the globe. Stipp stressed that the company wants to stay true to their Petaluma roots and culture while also embracing the local flavor in the cities they are coming to.
