Lagunitas announces International Expansion Plans with Taprooms across the Globe

Lagunitas Brewing has announced plans for international expansion and intent to open taprooms in Paris, Barcelona, São Paulo, and London in the next year. The Petaluma, California-based brewery is now owned by Heineken and recently opened an Amstertdam location called BrewTap where CEO Maria Stipp and brewmasters Jeremy Marshall and Mary Nowak announced the expansion plans before leading a tasting.

The newly announced taprooms are just one part of the ambitious Lagunitas growth plan over the next year. According to Stipp, Lagunitas has doubled its international growth over the last 12 months and is opening a new brewery in the Netherlands. Clearly, Lagunitas is not sufferring the same fate as companies like Ballast Point and Green Flash that also announced ambitious expansion plans and are now on life support.

The newly announced international taprooms are just the beginning of plans to open new locations across the globe. Stipp stressed that the company wants to stay true to their Petaluma roots and culture while also embracing the local flavor in the cities they are coming to.

Much of the plan is based around introducing Lagunitas new lineup of beers to international consumers. The brewery has really refreshed their core brands over the last year or two and has a number of new innovative brands in the market or on the way, including its low-alcohol DayTime IPA, mega-hopped SuperCluster IPA, and Hoppy Refresher, an IPA-inspired sparkling water.
