McMenamins Breweries has released a new beer in cans called 5th Floor IPA and the 2019 vintage of their barrel-aged barleywine Longest Night of the Year in bottles.
After aging in Hogshead Whiskey barrels, this beer is a true example of a classic, barrel-aged English Barleywine. Already a formidable ale in its own right, it has matured into a flavorful, complex behemoth. It offers flavors of toffee, caramel, and a warming alcohol character that’s been rounded and accentuated by notes of raisin, vanilla, and oak from its aging.
Special Techniques: Hogshead Whiskey Barrel-Aged Malts: Maris Otter, Munich, Crystal 40, Rolled Oats Hops: Sterling, US Golding, Perle OG: 1.121 TG: 1.038 ABV: 10.71 IBU: 23 SRM: 17
Longest Night is available at Edgefield Gift Shop, 23rd Ave. Bottle Shop, Kennedy School Gift Shop, Old St. Francis School & Anderson School
