Ashland’s Standing Stone Brewing finally has new owners

Ashland, Oregon’s Standing Stone Brewing finally has new owners.

The 25 year-old Standing Stone brewpub closed in 2022, leaving the college and arts town of 22,000 people with only Caldera Brewing. The former brewery property was up for sale, not only the business and assets but the entire building which included two separately leased suites to other businesses- artisan soap shop Emz Blendz and the Howard Hanson Gallery, which will have to find new homes to make way for the reimagined brewpub. The new owners are Silverton, Oregon’s gastropub The Noble Fox, who are planning a restaurant, whiskey bar, retail shop, and brewery in the same location.

Ashland, Oregon has always deserved a better craft beer scene, and the Standing Stone building always had a ton of potential. Centrally located downtown in a 1925 garage listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and with a really unique layout. The space boasts 6,495 sq. ft. for the brewery and restaurant, a second floor mezzanine that holds and displays the cold side of the brewery production line, another 1,229 sq. ft for a backyard beer garden, and 931 sq. ft of lower level storage with valuable refrigeration and freezer space that any kitchen manager would be envious of.

It is unclear how much the Noble Fox will use some of the existing equipment at Standing Stone, like the woodfired pizza oven and the 10bbl brewery. The Silverton location of the Noble Fox is more vintage cocktail focused, and the new location will have a full bar of spirits. But owner Jeramie Mykisen says he fully intends to make his second location fill a void in Ashland specifically, as a larger gathering place with more pubby menu and house brewed beers. The process will take time, and the building will soon undergo a refresh that they anticipate lasting through the winter. As soon as January the Noble Fox will be seeking a brewmaster who will have an opportunity to put a stamp on the beers and life in Ashland’s sorely needed craft beer culture.

The Noble Fox has partnered with SMBX to raise funds for the expansion. Investors can start with as little as $10 and receive a 11% annual return, paid back monthly over a 5 year period. The funds will be used to restore the space and bring The Noble Fox Restaurant & Brewery to life in Ashland.
