ForeLand Beer Slow Temple Stout and Sunrift metal EP release, with Hot Poker Bierstacheln

ForeLand Beer’s Portland pub goes metal with Slow Temple Stout Cans, Sunrift album listening party, Bastion Coffee  Roasters, and bierstacheln!

McMinnville, Oregon based ForeLand Beer is diving into the dark depths of coffee stout and moody metal music by reteaming with their former head brewer for a harrowing collaboration can release, homegrown dark metal, and hot poker and mulled beers for the party. ForeLand’s homey and wildly Xmas decorated Portland pub The Study goes dark on Saturday, December 9th from 5-7pm for the dual release of Slow Temple Coffee Stout in cans and Sunrift’s first EP playing from the sound system.

Slow Temple Coffee Stout is an award-winning recipe from Aaron Copelin, who was most recently Ex Novo Brewing’s head brewer and before that leader of the ForeLand brewing team. Copelin has briefly returned to the McMinnville brewery with a fresh darker take on Slow Temple, switching to Bastion Coffee  Roasters and going even darker and richer with the recipe. This robust stout  blends freshly roasted Nicaraguan coffee from Portland's Bastion Coffee Roasters, and fragrant  vanilla beans from Karnataka, India. These flavors harmonize with bitter chocolate and honey  graham cracker notes of the base beer to create a beer blends ingredients and artistry.

"Slow Temple’s dark magic is collaboration. Our brewing approach and philosophy  melding with Aaron's along with our partnership with Bastion produced a beer even  greater than the sum of its parts. We’re all super excited about it and for the cans to be  released." – Noah Palmer/ForeLand Beer Head Brewer

As the night falls, the pub will be echoing with the deep, harmonious sounds of Sunrift’s debut  EP. Consisting of multiple Portland beer industry professionals, including Aaron Copelin on  drums, Shawn from Imperial Yeast, and Jason from Von Ebert.  Sunrift is a doomy blues and metal met with lyrics of true feeling. It will be accompanied  by other hand-picked jams that inspired them.

"Sunrift's music is a perfect complement to Slow Temple Stout. They both tap into the  same dark, mystical energy source. It’s beautiful but dark as Hell too. I’m proud to have  contributed to both projects." – Aaron Copelin/drummer/brewer

But wait, there's more! We’re bringing in a beer poker to dive further into the depths of flavor  and engage in the ancient art of bierstacheln for caramelized pints of malty beers. If you come  for the metal, but not beer, we’ll have coffee samples from Bastion Coffee Roasters, glühwein,  and hot spiced hard cider available.

Join them Saturday at Foreland’s The Study at 2511 SE Belmont St, Portland, OR 97214 for this celebration of dark flavors and sounds. The event is all ages, but beware,  it’s going to get loud! If you can’t make it, cans of Slow Temple will be available at both  ForeLand locations and throughout the PNW.
