Black is Beautiful Beer Project Documentary coming soon

The global black lives matter movement ignited the grassroots Black is Beautiful collaboration beer series in 2020. The term Black is Beautiful was coined by U.S. activists in the 60’s, and refreshed as a beer series by Marcus Baskerville, founder of Weathered Souls Brewing in San Antonio, TX. The collaboration series invited pro brewers and homebrewers from around the world to use the base recipe and label art for Weathered Souls’ American Stout and make it their own, donating profits to select charities who support either police reform, equity, equality and inclusion. From the beginning, the program’s mission has been to bridge the gap that's been around for ages and provide a platform to show that the brewing community is an inclusive place for everyone of any color.

Black is Beautiful beers have had a much deeper impact than most, it inspired a U.S. Open Beer Championship award category, and earned a place at the Smithsonian Museum. Now it is getting the short documentary treatment.

The Black is Beautiful Short Film Documentary will be screening in the heart of San Antonio’s business district at Legacy Park this Thursday in a sold out screening. It is unclear where it will be shown next, but we expect to see it at breweries, taprooms, and online screening in the future.
