Regenerative Oregon Bee Ranch launches honeywine Meadery

Bees turn flowers into honey; This regenerative bee ranch in Central Oregon turns honey into wine.

The historic central Oregon Lazy Z Ranch in Sisters have turned their focus on regenerative bees into a new alcoholic mead brand, and soon will open a farmhouse destination tasting room. Renee and John Herman purchased the land in 2020, and through a fresh new farming venture the artisanal beverage venture is turning the sweet honey nectar of flowers into the fermented Lazy Z Ranch Wines line of two flavors of meads that encapsulate the essence of nature’s diverse floral kingdom through regenerative agriculture.

What sets this establishment apart is the pioneering approach of fusing regenerative agricultural practices with the art of mead-making. As their initial offerings, Lazy Z Ranch Wines boasts two hyper-local mead varieties: Estate Traditional Style Mead (crafted entirely from regeneratively-produced honey, sourced directly from the Lazy Z Ranch’s own apiary in Sisters, Oregon), and Lavender Blossom Traditional Style Mead (crafted entirely from honey produced by bees in Bend, Oregon).

Honey and artisan-beverage lovers can support the well-being of bees while indulging in the captivating flavors of Lazy Z Ranch Wines.

Lazy Z Ranch's bee pastures are home to an array of vibrant flowering plants that build soil fertility and maintain a healthy ecosystem. The star of the Lazy Z Ranch Wines lineup is the Estate Traditional Style Mead. Crafted from the Estate honey of the Lazy Z Ranch, this mead captures the essence of ranch’s commitment to excellence and environmental stewardship.

For those seeking a sensory journey that features one of the most beloved plants of Central Oregon’s high desert, Lazy Z Ranch Wines offers the Lavender Blossom Traditional Style Mead. Using single-source, raw and unfiltered premium Bend lavender blossom honey, this enchanting mead gives customers the rare ability to enjoy lavender fields the way bees do - through its sweet nectar. Indulge in a glass of this delicate, semi-sweet honey wine and experience the tranquility and beauty of Oregon's lavender landscapes.

Starting July 19th, Lazy Z Ranch Wines will be available online and at select local farmers markets while supplies last. Lazy Z Ranch Wines will soon open an on-farm tasting room for an historic Central Oregon ranch experience with breathtaking mountain views.

"We are overjoyed to introduce Lazy Z Ranch Wines to the world," said John Herman, owner and operator of Lazy Z Ranch and Lazy Z Ranch Wines. "Our goal is to bridge the gap between flavor and systemic health, providing a platform where individuals can contribute to environmental restoration while enjoying an artisanally-crafted ranch wine. Turns out, our regenerative farmhouse meadery is one of the only in the world, though we hope to inspire many more! We invite anyone ages 21 and over who shares our passion for honey and environmental stewardship to join us in this adventure and experience the uniquely-Oregon flavors we have to offer."
