Belmont Station announces 2019 Puckerfest Sour Beer Festival

Belmont Station's Bier Cafe

One of Oregon's largest (and certainly longest running) showcases of sour beers returns July 18-22nd with Belmont Station's 13th annual Puckerfest. The 5-day showcase of breweries and beers in the vast and vague category described as "sour" features daily themed events and tappings. Portland's veteran beer bar/bottle shop Belmont Station once again plays host at this all-day, all hours of operation tap takeover (atleast 8 sour taps on all day) in their bier cafe.

More from a press release:

With themes like, “Locals Only” (featuring only Portland breweries) and “Belgian Birthday Party” (highlighting Belgian sour beers), each daily event will bring something new, exciting, and, well, pucker-y, to participants’ palates.

“When we first started Puckerfest in 2006, sour beers were hardly even known outside certain countries like Belgium and parts of Germany,” says Belmont Station co-owner, Lisa Morrison. “It’s fun watching styles like Berliner Weisse and Lambic gain in popularity among beer fans, as well as seeing local and U.S. breweries put their own spin on these styles.”

Customers will be treated to a wide lineup of different sour and wild-fermented beer that will change each day of Puckerfest. Patrons can enjoy these special tipples by the glass, or they can order a tasting flight of several sour beers to sample. Patrons also are invited to share their best PuckerFest “PuckerFace” on Instagram with the hashtag #PuckerFace2019.

Below are the themes for each day of Puckerfest, with a handful of the participating breweries confirmed for each day:

July 18 – Kickoff Party: East vs. West (sour ales from both coasts, except Oregon)
Breweries: Russian River, Hill Farmstead, Stoup, Matchless & more
