Prost and Bitburger Pilsner Fest Challenge

Portland's German beer hall/taproom Prost! is teaming up with German brewer Bitburger for a Pacific Northwest Pilsner Fest challenge. Starting on August 16th Prost is hosting an epic three-day brewer’s competition to see which Pacific NW Brewery (Wayfinder Beer, pFriem, Aslan, Reuben's Brews, Deschutes, Chuckanut, Georgetown & Breakside) can brew the best original German style pilsner.

The winner will receive a trip to Bitburg, Germany and the opportunity to collaborate with Germany’s Craftwerk Brewery on an all new bier!

This is an extremely competitive field with some of the region’s best craft breweries;

From Washington we have Chuckanut Brewery and Aslan Brewing Company in Bellingham as well as Reuben’s Brews and Georgetown Brewing Company in Seattle.

Representing Oregon, we have Breakside Brewery and Wayfinder Beer from Portland, Deschutes Brewery from Bend and pFriem Family Brewers from Hood River.

The judging will take place over three days at Prost! 4237 N Mississippi Ave.nPortland, Oregon. During this time, the public will have the opportunity to purchase a flight of all 8 competing Pilsners, and submit a blind tasting ballot. The tally from these public ballots, and also the tally of an expert judging panel led by a Bitburger Brew master, will be equally weighted to crown a winner on Sunday. In addition to this competition, Bitburger’s Group’s Craftwerk Brewery will be debuting a brand-new Hoppy Pilsner brewed exclusively for this event and Prost!

This is the first time Craftwerk has ever brewed an exclusive release, and we are excited to share this special beer.
