Hopsteiner introduces new Altus™ Hop Variety

Altus™ Hop Variety

As the 2020 hop harvest is underway, hop breeding companies and suppliers are introducing new varieties like Altus™. Hopsteiner, a vertically integrated worldwide hop supplier founded in 1845, has announced the public release of Altus for contract or spot hops orders.

Hopsteiner says that Altus™ has changed the way they look at high alpha acid hop varieties that are usually more popular for bittering rather than flavor or aroma. With an alpha acid range fro 15.0 - 18.5, Altus retains a high oil content with notes of spicy tangerine, dank herbal qualities and grassy notes. Hopsteiner says the Altus hop works in anything from a Mexican Lager to a Triple IPA.

Altus™ was developed from an Apollo and Wye Target cross. Just like its lineage, Altus™ packs a punch.

Hopsteiner highlights their sustainable practices, research and development in hop breeding and science in a new tour video here. See how the hop process developments from their Single Hill Nursery to 5-Acre Plots, learn how the breeding program leads to the latest developments in hops here.

Altus™ was born in Yakima, WA under stable growing conditions in the Pacific Northwest. The PNW offers great advantages for hop growing, but none better than consistency. Altus™ is available for contracts and on the Spot Hops Portal. Simply, create a profile and login to gain access to the latest new hops like Altus™, Lotus™, Sultana
