Trap Door Brewing and Brothers Cascadia Collab Around Resilience IPA's Cause

Trap Door Brewing's head brewer and co-owner, Zane Singleton, grew up in Northern California. He's called the Sacramento area home and has went to school for fermentation sciences at UC-Davis. He even spent 4 years working for a solar energy company installing systems to homes in Paradise, California--one of the areas that suffered the most damage from the fires. The Camp Fire that overtook the area just weeks ago hit home for him, and he jumped at the opportunity to support the cause the same day Sierra Nevada announced their plans."When I saw Sierra Nevada's social media posts about it, I was like, 'That's fuckin' awesome!" Then I immediately sent an email to our team asking 'How can we do this?'," shared Singleton. "(Co-owner) Dave Forster let us all know he knew some folks who had lost their home as well. We had to do everything we could."Committing the tank space, a brew day and all of the logistics that go into any beer is no small task, even when the hops and malts are being donated for the relief effort by folks like Great Western Malt and Crosby Hop Farm. Anything as much as committing a tap line at any pub to donate 100% of proceeds from can be a tall ask, but this cause is a worthy one. Singleton also desired to move the beer quickly in order to get the funds raised down to California in the shortest time possible. The idea occurred to him to reach out to Brothers Cascadia Brewing for a joint effort.As Brothers Cascadia co-owner and brewer, Jason Bos, explains, "We were already looking into how we could make Resilience IPA possible here at BCB in terms of tank space and our brewing schedule. When Zane reached out, we saw it as an opportunity to make a bigger impact on the relief efforts than both of us brewing the beer alone."The collaborative efforts of Trap Door and Brothers Cascadia are not limited to the beer. A shared mindset formed quickly to seek out ways to make this Resilience IPA more than a beer, but a community event to be remembered.This Saturday, Trap Door Brewing and Brothers Cascadia Brewing will simultaneously released their beers at NOON at each brewery. At Brothers Cascadia live music will start at noon and run until 8PM. Trap Door will feature live music into the night beginning at 8PM. Throughout the day, both breweries will feature food trucks, activities and raffles to support the cause with prizes offered up by dozens of local businesses including other Northbank Brewers Alliance members, local taprooms, neighboring restaurants and even professional services companies."We were blown away that all six bands performing at both breweries donated their time," shared Bos of Brothers Cascadia. "There are so many cool things to raffle off from local businesses, too."Towards the end of the night, Vancouver's new experience company, exobus, will shuttle supporters between the two breweries from 7PM to 10PM offering a unique way to experience the headlining music acts at both venues.
