Public Coast Brewing releases a Candy Cap Mushroom Stout and Cranberry Sour

Cannon Beach, Oregon's Public Coast Brewing has released two new seasonals - StackStock Candy Cap Stout and Old Bog Farm Cranberry Kettle Sour. Both beers are available on draft and in cans along the coast, and at Hops on Tap in Tigard, and John's Market and Milwaukie Beer Store in Portland.

Public Coast brewer Will Leroux was an experienced chef before becoming the head brewer, candy cap mushrooms were a culinary favorite of his. He previously brewed a barrel-aged stout with candy caps and it was so well received he wanted to do it again on a larger scale.

StackStock Candy Cap Stout is 5.5% ABV with notes of maple and vanilla coming from 4oz per barrel of dried candy cap mushrooms. Leroux thought the maple flavor and spicing would be a nice compliment for a winter sipper by the fire.

Old Bog Farm Cranberry Kettle Sour is 7.2% ABV with a cranberry tartness perfect for pairing with a Thanksgiving or Christmas meal. Taking inspiration from cranberry sauce, this refreshing winter sour has hints of cinnamon, raspberry, and blood orange. The beer uses fresh cranberries from Old Bog Farm in Gearhart, Oregon.

And, if you can make it to Public Coast Brewing's brewpub on the coast, brewer Will Leroux has hand made some goodies available to-go that make great gifts: Shortbread cookies made with candy cap mushrooms and a cranberry relish made with his Old Bog Farm cranberry kettle sour beer.
