Pfriem 2019 Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout and Scotch Barrel-Aged Imperial Brown

Day #15 on our barrel-aged beer advent calendar focuses on Hood River, Oregon's pFriem Family Brewers. Perhaps better known for their more farmhouse, lambic-inspire beers utilizing local fruits, the Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout and Scotch Barrel-Aged Imperial Brown Ale are perfect accompaniments or the holidays.

2019 Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout

This year pFriem incorporated more variety within the barrels than ever before. Four Roses, Buffalo Trace, Heaven Hill, Blanton's and Woodford oak all held this year's release for over a year before blending. Also new this year, brewers blended back with a non barrel-aged Imperial Milk Stout for a beautifully decadent, silky and alluring pairing for Winter in the Northwest.

2019 Scotch Barrel Aged Imperial Brown Ale

With this years vintage pFriem sought to achieve more depth and intricacy of character from this favorite among their brewing team. Brewers blended casks from World-Class Scotch producers known for both the smoky, peaty single-malt elixirs of the Highlands, and the smooth, approachable triple-distilled grain Whiskies of the Lowlands. The result is a wonderfully dynamic beer of profound complexity, perfect with dessert or a fine cigar.

Both beers are available at select bottle shops and the brewery in Hood River, Boubon Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout is also available for mail order in Oregon https://store.pfriembeer.com/pfriem-beer-bottles-s/103.htm
