StormBreaker Brewing opens Montavilla Tap Truck at The Yard

Portland, Oregon’s StormBreaker Brewing is opening a third location on the high traffic 82nd Ave. strip in the Montavilla neighborhood. StormBreaker’s new location is a beer tap truck, serving 2-year old food truck pod ‘The Yard at Montavilla’ across the street from Vestal Elementary at 8220 NE Davis St.

The timing is good, not only for summer beer garden season, but because 82nd’s other brewery ran tap truck, the Breakside Brewing winnebago “The Breaksider” closed earlier this year at the CORE just 2 miles down the road.

When The Yard at Montavilla pod first opened in 2021, Scout Beer operated a beer truck, but that did not last long. It was soon replaced by “The Yard Bar” by cart pod co-owner Kevin Dennis. The bright yellow food truck has been serving the The Yard’s dozen or so food trucks for the past year with 8 drafts, and a selection of cans of both alcoholic seltzers, beers, ciders, and non-alcoholic beverages for the family.

Pending approval of an Oregon Liquor Control Commission change of license, StormBreaker Brewing is going to be taking over the taps at “The Yard Bar” starting Monday, May 22nd at 4pm. The bright yellow food truck was a relatively new addition to the food truck pod, and offers a blank canvas for StormBreaker to make it more of their own. The brewery with a primary location on N. Mississippi Ave and a second location in St. Johns, will bring their beer and a variety of hard cider, hard seltzer, and wine, with more exciting options to come at the new tap truck.

We've been looking for an opportunity like this for a while and we have a prior relationship with the Food cart pod owners, so it was a perfect fit. We feel like the Yard at Montavilla can take it to the next level with a beer vendor like us,” says StormBreaker co-owner Dan Malech. “We are excited to get started and for the future of this location.  This will be a full on StormBreaker truck, so we will be pouring our award winning and tasty beers on all 8 taps!”

Patrons can pick up food and a beer to enjoy on-site at the available seating areas or grab cans and take them to-go. Expect a lively atmosphere, welcoming service, and a large beer selection supplemented by beers in package form to drink on site.
