Belmont Station 15th annual Puckerfest celebration of sour

Belmont Station’s Puckerfest runs July 10 - 14th, 2023

For the 15th year of Puckerfest, Portland bottle shop and beer bar Belmont Station is taking Oregon’s longest-running showcase of sour beers back to it’s roots with an almost random grab bag of rare and specialty beers over 5 days. In more recent years before COVID-19 the schedule of events featured different breweries showcasing their best sour beers each day, but this way will leave more of a fun assortment that will keep people coming back.

“We will start off with classic favorites such as Double Mountain and Block 15 as in years past for the first day. And we will end Puckerfest with some serious bangers. But this time, we are straying away from the themed days,” says Belmont Station general manager Ryan Fosbinder.

With this being the 15th year of Puckerfest, Belmont Station thought it would be fitting to take over 15 of their taps to dedicate to this event. Proclaiming that Sour beers are back in a big way this year, Belmont Station will have different breweries—ranging from down the street to around the world—and their best tart, sour, funky, and wild beers, or ciders for 5-days.

But what qualifies as a sour “puckerfest” beer? “A puckerfest beer is anything sour/wild/funky/tart. This also goes for ciders, which we will be featuring a small amount of too,” says Fosbinder. “They don't have to melt your enamel off by any means (some people do like that though). But they should fit into those categories and also be super unique. Our goal is to give our customers an opportunity to try something that hasn't been on a draft list in years or even ever. Something so limited, this might be the first or only chance to try some of these beers. That being said, anything goes from these styles. Lambic and smoothies can absolutely share a draft list. And they will this year at Puckerfest! We will be featuring farmhouse ciders and beers as well.”

Customers will be able to customize their own sour beer flight to taste the full sour beer spectrum their heart desires. Each flight will be priced out individually, and Belmont Station will even supplement the options with a small limited menu of bottle pour options with 4 different rarities selected per day while they last.

The entire draft list will be posted very soon. But expect participating breweries and cideries such as Fonta Flora, Upright, de Garde, Tilquin, The Ale Apothecary, Casey Brewing, Russian River, Baird & Dewar, Little Beast, RAR, Double Mountain, Block 15, pFriem, Cascade, Beachwood, Cantillon and much, much more.
