Great Notion Brewing gets into the Halloween Spirit with 7 special beers

Great Notion Brewing (GNB) is getting into spooky season with 7 different Halloween themed beer releases showcasing the pastry, smoothie, hazy, culinary-dessert-inspired ales that the Portland, OR based brewery is known for. GNB brews a number of Halloween beers each year, but the 2023 line-up is their most packed lineup yet including some returning favorites including Boo Berry Muffin, Orange Screamsicle, Beetlejuice Jr., Evil Red and Possessed among others.

Right on the heels of a crazy fresh hop season, Great Notion will be dropping unique scary beers almost every Friday in October and offering them in frightful Halloween flights in all GN taprooms during the last week of October. Expect new merchandise like die cut Halloween sticker packets and super limited glassware featuring the evolution of the Boo Berry Muffin movie villain that changes each year. Pay close attention to the brewery’s regional Instagram pages (@greatnotionoregon, @greatnotionwashington & @greatnotioncali) for unique taproom events and rotating frozen Halloween beer Lushies. Two Halloween inspired Bourbon barrel aged Stout releases and collaborations with exciting international breweries are also planned for an extra special October. Details on the Halloween beers are as follows:

Boo Berry Muffin, 6% abv, Tart Ale. Great Notion dresses up their famous Blueberry Muffin each Halloween with stupid amounts of Boo Berry cereal. This GN classic sour beer tastes exactly like a bowl of the fun Halloween blueberry marshmallow cereal. Each year's label artwork features a different villain from horror films.

Beetlejuice Jr., 6% abv, Hazy IPA. The first IPA that Great Notion poured when they opened for business in 2016 was Juice Jr. This Hazy IPA features Mosaic hops and tastes like mangos and oranges. This year Jr. gets dressed up as Beetlejuice!

Orange Screamsicle, 9.6% abv, Tart Ale. If you like GN’s Orange Creamsicle IPA, you will want to murder Orange Screamsicle! This stronger sour beer is loaded out the wazoo with tangerine, orange and vanilla just like the IPA, but without the hops.

Evil Red, 8.1% abv, Tart Ale. Nobody can slay Great Notion at sour fruited beers and Evil Red is no different. Take a stab at pineapple, guava, passionfruit, tangerine, apricot and apple as they transform into a fruit punch beer with marshmallow.

Possessed, 8.4% abv, Tart Ale. Something evil haunts this strong sour ale loaded with pineapple and black cherry. It isn’t split pea soup, it’s Possessed!

BBA Friends to the End, 14.7% abv, Imperial Stout. This collaboration with our Seattle friends at Chuck’s Hop Shop emulates drinking a strong, liquid Snicker’s bar. Aged for over 2 years, this dark and sweet barrel-aged heavenly libation will punish you in the best way possible!

BBA Night of the Living Squatch, 14.7 % abv, Imperial Stout. We partnered with the infamous Beer Zombies crew to bring the dead back to life. Loaded full of marshmallow, cacao nibs, maple and cinnamon, this barrel-aged hellish concoction will eat you alive!

Beer drinkers can score the limited run Halloween beers in person at GN taprooms or through Great Notion’s website or mobile App and have them shipped direct to their home in 12 states.
