Don't Miss Skamania Lodge's Annual Celebration of Beer

Get a taste of all the gorge has to offer at Stevenson, Washington's destination resort, Skamania Lodge, for the annual Celebration of Beer on Saturday, September 8th from noon to 5pm. Just a 45 minute drive out of Portland, Skamania Lodge is one of the best hotels in SW Washington to stay if you are a beer lover. I attended the Celebration of Beer last year and despite the still burning fires in the Gorge, the hotel still pulled off a great event on the sprawling Cascade Lawn with a view down the valley and the river. The 2018 celebration features more options than ever with new additions pFriem Family Brewers and Trap Door Brewing, plus returning Gorge and Portland-area breweries listed below. The Celebration of Beer is open to anyone but if you can manage to stay the night at the lodge than there is plenty to do. Other than being just a walk up the hill from Walking Man Brewing and a short drive from Thunder Island Brewing and Backwoods Brewing, the restaurant and pub at Skamania Lodge is pretty strong, too. In addition to good food and drinks, you can wander around the lodge with a beer or sit outside on the lawn or by a fire pit that's lit up nightly. Activities at the lodge now include axe throwing lanes (book in advance with an instructor). They also have aerial climbing park in the trees with ziplines! The big draw may be the extensive golf course that heads off into the woods, with a full service club and beer garden. Personally, my favorite thing to do is to hit the spa for the sprawling outdoor hot tub feature that's decked out as if it's a natural dipping pond. You can bring your drinks out there, too, just bring a can and not a glass. But back to the Celebration of Beer, a mini beer fest that takes part outside the gorgeous three floor front windows on the grassy knoll that is basically the lodge's front lawn. A grassy park for lounging and outdoor games, dining, drinking, and enjoying the view of the Gorge-us valley with some of its finest breweries on-site for this event.“This year’s lineup really is incredible,” said General Manager Ken Daugherty. “We have a wide range of breweries from Oregon and Washington, both big and small whose styles run the gamut – we think guests will be excited.”Indeed, 13 breweries, a winery and a cider company will pour on Skamania Lodge’s Gorge-facing Cascade Lawn on Saturday, September 8 in the twilight of summer. Guests can choose from new additions in 2018, including pFriem and Trap Door, as well as Celebration of Beer regulars Double Mountain, Walking Man, Thunder Island and Backwoods Brewing.Celebration of Beer is 25 dollars; the cost includes a Skamania Lodge pint glass and 5 beer tickets (additional tickets are available for purchase). Popular local food cart La Gula will be on hand serving tacos and burritos. The list of participating breweries:
