Rosenstadt Weissbier now in bottles

Rosenstadt Weissebier

Rosenstadt Brewery has released their second beer ever in package, Weissbier is now available in 500ml bottles. Rosenstadt is a Portland-based operation that makes only German-style beers and had previously self-distributed them only on draft until the pandemic began. Weissbier follows the 12oz and 6-pack release of Helles lager in April.

Rosenstadt aimed to capture the familiar flavors of German Hefeweizen/Weizenbier with their Weissenbier. That calls for a mildly hazy, effervescent beer with the signature notes of pear, stone fruit, banana and clove. The bready flavors of wheat explode in a frothy head that dies quickly as it settles into a soft body with a slight ripe tang.

Weissbier is Rosenstadt's first 500ml release, and is brewed at Laurelwood Brewing while the Helles is brewed and packaged at Portland Brewing. Whether Weissbier will become a regularly bottled offering or not is still unclear, but it's possible we may see more coming in many Bavarian inspired variations.

"In the past we have offered Weissbier as year round beer, and that was the idea prior to the shutdown, so we are taking things one step at a time. Last year we brewed five different Weissbiers, and it’s possible that we could rotate some different flavors through," says Rosenstadt co-owner Nick Greiner.
